Markus Risinger is the newest attorney to join Gregg R. Woodnick, PLLC. Markus graduated cum laude from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. He began as a clerk with the firm in 2012 and now practices in family law and civil litigation matters.
Markus’s approach to the practice of law begins with levelheadedness and careful attention to client needs with an eye toward the most efficient and creative use of resources. He embodies the firm’s holistic approach to helping clients, which includes not only resolving their current legal issues, but giving them the knowledge and confidence they need to move forward with their lives. Above all, he enjoys helping people understand the legal process so that they can make informed decisions and actively participate in the outcomes of their cases.
During law school, Markus took special interest in sex trafficking and domestic violence issues. He worked on several research projects with the Office of Sex Trafficking Intervention Research at Arizona State University (in partnership with Shared Hope International). Markus looks forward to continuing to cross disciplinary boundaries to help coordinate solutions to the violent coercion and exploitation underpinning many family court cases.
When he is not at the office, Markus and his wife, Caraline, train sheepdogs. Along with their border collies – Kiev, Fargo, Brooke, and Duke – Markus and Caraline compete in local arena and field trials.
Of his work, both in law and on the trial field, he says: “The key is to become comfortable with being uncomfortable. Nothing worth accomplishing can be done without patience, hard work, and a willingness to leave your safety net behind.”
